Protecting yourself
Missoula has great resources to help you be your own advocate.
Experiencing housing insecurity is a challenge that no one can handle for you.
Here are the steps:
- Resolve any medical issues by making and attending appointments with Partnership Healthcare. Partnership Healthcare has been an amazing resource within this community that has provided dental, medical, and mental health services to all.
- Most issues that cause adversity need to be resolved by executing behaviors. The longer you wait to start doing tasks that your survival requires, the harder those tasks become. If you refuse to try you could end up in a situation where the manner the current government administration handles things shifts, which leads to your freedoms not being the same. If you are unable to function you will need people to make your choices for you. If a large group of people created a situation where people are unable to make choices for themselves in a red state we would end up creating a structure that allows the state administration to set parameters that help people navigate the issues that come from the inability to function.
- Jobs! Ahhhh. I often hear “working is exhausting. I am afraid to push myself because of stuff I have to navigate with my human experience. I can just hang out and not do things I don’t want to do. After all, I can qualify for x amount of dollars to not work. Why should I put energy into something I hate?” Working is exhausting. Exhaustion is good for you. Exhaustion cuts the amount of medicine you need to fall asleep. Using your body and mind regularly keeps you functioning on the drop of a dime. If you choose to be stagnant and stop pushing yourself your base will be that which you executed last. To understand this concept think about working out. When you work out after taking time off it takes time to build up to running and jumping and pumping big weights. Without practice and repetition your ability to push yourself is lessened. Some people have limited abilities. Move what you can move, regroup how you can regroup. Your trial should not stop you from living. It should show you that you are on the advance path to advance your soul’s skills. Think about when you begin playing a video game, you are given three options: Easy, Novice, and Advanced. You got advanced, and you got this.
- Housing, oh housing. The price of housing has changed and evolved over time. The things that you need to learn to execute to pay for housing changes the rate at which you can pay for what you want. Learn to savor your cup of coffee. Truth betold, my morning coffee is amazing wherever I drink it, and during whatever I am going through. Drinking a morning beverage while savoring the blessing of having another moment in life is one of the best feelings in the world. Drink some tea and feel that you can savor the moments in the world from whatever environment you are in. Savor. Savor. Savor. Smell the smells. Feel the change of the seasons. Watch people live their lives. Feel your path. Feel your journey. Find joy where you are.
- Second chances: If you are like me, you have probably had to pick yourself back up a few times. Life has bumps in the road. When a bump happens: regroup, take a look at all of your possible solutions, and design a life from where you are. Build from where you are, don’t be afraid to push yourself, and know that each lesson that sucks is something that embeds knowledge into your soul. Wisdom does not come to those that have nothing to walk through.
You got this, and Missoula is walking with you.
