Shifting the Nation

The success that this nation has had since it has formed is due to how the Constitution helps communities adapt to help everyone work and live together effectively. The map above shows what cultures were in the conquering business right before everyone within the borders of the United States agreed to work together to keep conquering cultures from going too far and becoming irrelevant and a neausance. When this map was drawn up the territory was being controlled by groups that were completely wiping out communities to take the land they lived on. Without the Spanish conquests the rest of the cultures within the nation would not have the drive to come together to make wars for land stop. Throughout the history many citizens have tried their hand at shifting the balance of the nation to do more for people within, and to make sure everyone has a safe environment to live in. The formation of United States of America is just the beginning of this nation’s journey to create a land where everyone is free to live autonomously.

Part of the design of this nation is that documentation is needed in order to shift the government policies, procedures, and budget. Recently scientific studies have started replacing reports of issues. There are currently many studies being created to find ways to adjust the nation’s balance. To make a study effectively change how the population behaves you must first understand how to gain acceptance from the general population. Some changes within a community are made without complete acceptance, but they have the backing of documented reason behind them that forces acceptance. When there is not enough documented reason behind changes in governmental policies they are often debated and used as political platforms. Once a topic becomes a platform topic for either party it no longer is found acceptable by a portion of the community due to party affiliation. Over the years politics has became much like football. Camaraderie is built around different topics to build conversations that show we are authentically part of one group or another. 

Due to the manner that we use information around topics as political platforms, there are often issues that arise when discussing topics that effect the nation. When healthcare comes up we often feel bad for the people that do not have healthcare and stop looking at how the shift of healthcare itself changes the product and overall cost for all people. When the government gets involved with mandates it takes out the competitive market of healthcare. The competition often decreases cost and increases quality. Repetitive competition suppresses bad service and overly inflated prices. When the healthcare was on a competitive market more employers could afford to pay for employee benefits that included their entire family. After the Affordable Healthcare Acts many employers dropped the family insurance option because government insurance covers within the pay bracket of those employees. When more people switched insurance providers insurance premiums increased to compensate for the loss in revenue. What that did to the market was shift the distribution of funds around. Companies that have fine tuned their management of bill pay and processing no longer were using their wisdom and new companies cropped up. 

Throughout history of humanity there have been many moments when it seemed like a good idea to increase the amount of companies handling something, and it led to less efficient services at a higher cost. When there is an set amount for a service and we spread the funds out across many different organizations the funds that could go straight to the consumer get absorbed by the overhead costs for the administration of each organization that wants to participate in the task the grants are earmarked to pay. Many times grant funding is geared to find new ways to handle situations. Finding new ways to handle situations actually decreases productivity, and it negates the wisdom and experience gained over decades of using a functioning structure. 

Each area of our nation has grown with the issues that have arose. Over the years politicians have started using public funding to promote their own career goals. The manner that this form of politics has reshaped the nation has left many areas that functioned, well, gutted as people stand and blame the opposite party for the effects of the choices of a few. Take the manner that this community has changed how it handles adversity because a few wanted to promote ending homelessness. The manner the the town handles each person that goes through trauma is now being funneled through a system that manages the lives of drug users and transients. The old way was to help people to jobs and occupational therapy. The new Housing First Initiative has people sitting in spaces, surrounded by people living on the streets, waiting for housing (with no prompts to get a job or manage their finances). The change in procedure has increased the amount of trauma people endure during their time on the streets. The format has left the homeless population in environments their peers are regulating with violence. Having entire populations stop and wait for housing before fixing the other issues that lead to homelessness, just to promote a philosophical idea of life, leaves our peers in unsafe environments. A bump in the road in the Housing First design leads to being trampled into a giant hole that everyone is beating each other up in to get out of. 

Just as fast as this town got into the Housing First commitment it can get out of it. This means that if you have moved here to have your housing paid for the likelihood you will be eligible for subsidized houses for long periods of time is small. Each administration switches goals and approved budgetary items. At any time the community could switch the manner it funds housing and everyone with subsidized housing could be out on the streets if they did not utilize the federally regulated means of acquiring subsidized housing. In a manner it is like buying a trailer and renting a lot. At any point the landowner could sell their land and the home would no longer have a place to sit. That is how life is. At any point the cards could be thrown up into the air and you are left trying to reorganize the way they all come together as fast as possible. We see this every time a Federal Administration changes. Each administration takes turns trying to fix imbalances within the nation that cause conflict. Each administration has different goals that they focus on within their term of service. The work and goals of each administration are taken through all of the layers of checks and balances written within the nation’s policies, procedures, laws, and local ordinances. When a change is not able to be executed across all areas affected, the area that can not shift has procedures to report the issue to the administration and the administration is required to address the issues or abort the direction.
